Grandby's Quilts creates one-of-a-kind, heirloom quality quilts
made from your very own articles of clothing. Custom Quilting is
charged at a $23 per hour rate with a 10 hour minimum. We prefer to
choose the pattern so no two look exactly alike. The simpler
patterns are the fastest and most economical to create. However, if
you have a pattern in mind, please let us know. If we can, we’d
like to accommodate you.
PRICES
- Throw or Wallhanging (50" x 60")
$270
- Twin/Full (85"x97") $345
- Queen (95"x100") $420
- King (100"x106") $445
(Note: if an intricate pattern like Lone Star, Tumbling Blocks, Wedding
Ring, etc., are requested, it will take more hours so the price will be
charged at a flat rate of $23 per hour. I can give you a rough
estimate over the phone after receiving your box. There is a $130
minimum.)
- Add $10 for 3 lines of monogramming
for names, dates or sentiments.
Mail your box of clothing to be used (without buttons, zippers or
snaps) to our shop in San Antonio.
Number the most important clothing items
on the back, in the order of importance, beginning with #1. We like to
put the #1 item in the center (the heart of the quilt) or in the first
row, center.
Include in the box:
- Your letter of request telling us what size finished quilt,
including your non-refundable $230 deposit, by check, money order
- Your email address and daytime phone number
- The address the quilt will be shipped to when completed
- Your numbered garments
- Tell us if you want a monogram in the corner of the quilt (3 or
4 lines)
- Then, mail to 2519 East Bitters Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78217.
Be sure to insure your package.
We will supply the batting, muslin backing and the binding. Any balance due will be requested when your completed quilt is ready to ship
back to you. Your completed clothing quilt is shipped when balance
due has been received.
Any work needed by Christmas must be received in San Antonio by August
31st. Any project required by a specific date, must reach us at
least 12 weeks before that date.
Remember, you are commissioning artists to create an heirloom-to-be.
The cost is minimal compared to the magnitude of history and happiness
you will be passing down for years to come, beginning with the recipient
of the finished quilt. Clothing quilts are perfect for Graduations,
Birthdays, Teachers, Retirements, Christmas, and even Weddings if
clothing from both Bride and Groom are included. Grandby's Quilts
has made more Clothing Quilts for Bereavement than any other reason.
There is something healing about wrapping up with the one you miss; like
having their arms around you when you need it most.
